DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY

In recent years I have made several personal documentary reportages, from anthropological projects to humanitarian initiatives to collect non-profit aid.

HURRICANE MARIA

Reportage about life on the Caribbean island Commonwealth of Dominica, after the passage of Hurricane Maria. The natural catastrophe destroyed more than 90% of the island and left the entire population homeless or homeless.

After Hurricane Irma passed without affecting Dominica, the government decided to donate a large amount of supplies and goods to the islands that had been razed.

A few weeks later, Maria approached Dominica as category two, but unexpectedly she became level five within hours of reaching the coast.

Non-governmental organizations were already doing everything they could to care for Irma victims …

No one was prepared to meet this level of impact in Dominica

Where before there was dense and full of life nature, now there was nothing left. All infrastructures were blocked or destroyed.

The Dominicans were tested, they had to build makeshift houses using the fragments of veneer or wood that the same storm had scattered throughout the island.

Rugged buildings such as brick-made schools served first as a shelter, then as housing …

Due to the little external support, the Dominicans had to be self-sufficient. They found a way to live without electricity, live in a united community and follow their lives in the humblest way.

HINDUIST RITUALS

The “eternal tradition” of Hinduism is one of the oldest religions in the world that is still practiced to this day. I made an independent report to understand its cosmology and its rituals.

Life, death, ashes and reincarnation.

Of the 1.210 million people registered in India, 80% are Hindu.

One of the most important places is Varanasi (Varanasi), the most important of the seven sacred cities of India.

Apart from the countless Indian tourists, many only move there to die in peace.

For Hinduists God has infinite manifestations. It is accepted and respected that each person has their own personal concept about divinity.

In Hinduism there are more than 300 million different Gods.

I traveled to Sarpol-e Zahab, one of the most affected cities located in Kermanshah province, four months later and I found thousands of people living in makeshift tents, containers or cracked houses.

Entire neighborhoods have been reduced to permanent camps. No one knows how or when they will be able to rebuild their homes.

I have collaborated with the CULTURAL CENTER SEE YOU IN IRAN, and made an exhibition of solidarity photos and collect donations for the most affected .

SHAOLIN TEMPLE

Located in the Chinese province Henan is the birthplace of Kung fu, where thousands of people travel to learn the most emblematic martial arts.

In 500 A.D. The monk Bodhidharma volunteered to make a pilgrimage from Persia to China to transmit Buddhism.

He settled in Shaolin, where he was offered accommodation, but ended up living in the mountains, where he was meditating in a cave for nine years.

They say his shadow was marked on the rock of the cave …

To keep his body in shape Bodhidharma established certain movement patterns, based on movements and defensive maneuvers of the animals.

These movements would become Gong Fu, mistakenly known as Kong Fu.

It was in Bodhgaya that Siddharta attained enlightenment and became Buddha.

MANDATORY HIJAB LAW PROTEST

A peaceful protest against the mandatory veil law in Iran has been underway for a few years. The so-called Girls of Revolution Street show their hair in public and risk being arrested or assaulted.

TOB_9253

The Girls Revolution Avenue movement began in social networks, where women began publishing selfies showing their hair in public.

Thousands of women joined the movement sharing their photos or videos.

Many were fined, arrested or physically assaulted. But the movement continues to grow and you can see some other women walking through Tehran without a veil or taking it off for a while in the parks.

Arezu was also inspired by the movement and decided to continue her life by showing her hair.

I could only spend a few hours by his side, but the amount of awkward looks and irritated comments was uncountable.
